Castellar de la Frontera is a small town in Cadiz Province that is found in the heart of the Alcornocales Nature Park. With its emblematic castle as a focal point, the town is surrounded by rolling hills with numerous country houses and hiking routes. With around 4000 habitants, Castellar de la Frontera is well-visited as a result of its fantastic rural tourism package...drawing many nature, hiking and cycling enthusiasts to its doors every year. Part of the famous 'Bull Route' (Ruta del Toro) its also home to many of the 'Toros de Lidia' which are used across the country in bullfighting spectacles.
The town's castle, which has been designated a National Historic Monument since 1963, still holds perfectly preserved walls and offers fantastic views over the Alcornocales Nature Park.
With its narrow paved streets, traditional Gaditano architecture and rolling countryside, Castellar de la Frontera is a beautiful location for a relaxing break away with friends and family, with the beaches of the Costa del Sol and the Costa de la Luz both within a short drive.
